Born during the December quarter 1896 in the Belper R.D. - ref: 7b/602, the
only son of Reuben & Alice Brand Attenborough (nee Uffindale).

1901 Census - 2 Lime Avenue, Flixton.   Son - aged: 6 -  born: Bradford,
Yorkshire.   Head of household - Reuben Attenborough - Married - aged: 42 -
occ: Shop Assistant in Boot Trade - born: Bingham, Nottinghamshire.   Also
- Alice Attenborough - Wife - aged: 36 - born: Ely, Cambridgeshire. Plus 4
siblings.   They moved from Bradford, Yorkshire to Flixton sometime between
1896 and 1898.

1911 Census - 2 Lime Avenue, Flixton.   Son - aged: 16 - occ: Clerk in
Court House - born: Bradford, Yorkshire.   Head of household - Reuben
Attenborough - Married - aged: 52 - occ: Boot Salesman - born: Bingham,
Nottinghamshire.   Also - Alice Attenborough - Wife - aged: 48 - born: Ely,
Cambridgeshire. Plus 4 sisters. 


WO 363 - Enlisted at Manchester on the 12th April 1915.   He was aged: 20
years 8 months and employed as a Clerk.  He was 5 feet 5 1/4 inches in
height, his chest measurements being 32 1/2 - 35 inches.  Religion - Non
Conformist.

He joined the Egyption Expeditionary Force on the 8th April 1916 and posted
to France on the 26th February 1917, arriving on the 6th March.  Awarded
his first Good Conduct Badge on the 12th April 1917.   For being late on
Parade on the 2nd January 1918 and for insolance to an N.C.O., he was
awrded 14 days C.B. (Confined to Barracks) and forfieted 1 Good Conduct
Badge.

Served in the 17th Depot Section, 3rd, 2nd, 3/2nd Battalion, East
Lancashire Field Ambulance, 32nd Coy.

Commemorated on the private family gravestone in St. Michael's Churchyard,
Flixton.

CWGC - Son of Reuben and Alice Attenborough, of 2, Lime Avenue, Urmston,
Manchester.

His father, Rueben died 29/01/1936 aged 77 years and his mother, Alice died
30/03/1946 aged 81 years.
