Born during the December quarter 1884 in the Farnham R.D. - ref: 2a/98, the
only son of Thomas & Sophia Deedman (nee Willis).

1891 Census - Ash Vale, Ash, Farnham, Surrey.   [The family are listed
under the name of "Dudman"]  Son - aged: 6 - born: Ash, Surrey.   Head of
household - Thomas Deedman - Married - aged: 30 - occ:Brickmaker - born:
Ash, Surrey.   Also - Sophia Deedman - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Langport,
Somerset.  Plus 5 younger sisters.

1901 Census - Guildford Road, Ash, Farnham, Surrey.   Son - aged: 16 - occ:
Brickmaker's Labourer - born: Ash, Surrey.   Head of household - Thomas
Deedman - Married - aged: 40 - occ:Brickmaker - born: Normandy, Surrey.  
Also - Sophia Deedman - Wife - aged: 43 - born: Langport, Somerset.  Plus 2
younger sisters.

Married - Evelyn???  Edith??? c1908, but there is no trace of the marriage
in the BMD records.

1911 Census - 48 Cheltenham Place, Brighton, Sussex.    Boarder - Married -
aged: 26 - occ: Plumber - born: Brighton, Sussex.   Also Eason (Evelyn???)
(Edith???) Deedman - Boarder (Wife) - aged: 23 - born: Brighton, Sussex.

He enlisted into the Army Reserve in December 1915 whilst working as a
Plumber for Messrs. Stone & Turner, Agricultural Engineers at Dorking.    
At the Surrey Military Appeal Tribunal held on the 22nd May 1916, Mr.
Turner asked if Stanley's military service could be delayed as he was their
only plumber and sanitary engineer.   Records show that he appeared before
the Surrey Military Appeal Tribunal on the 3rd June 1916, when his
occupation was given as - Agricltural Engineer.   His appeal was dismissed.


I am grateful to the Dorking Museum for some of this information.  The
staff at the Museum are also researching the names from their local war
memorials.

Stanley is not a Trafford man, but is included as his name appears on the
Royal Engineers Memorial that was housed in the East Lancs Royal Engineer's
HQ at Old Trafford.
