Born as Charles Acton during the December quarter 1895 in the Altrincham
R.D. - ref: 8a/156, the son of Thomas & Ellen Acton (nee Jones).  Ellen was
the younger sister of Hannah Jones.

Charles was brought up as the son of Henry & Hannah Abbott (nee Jones).  
Listed as Charles Abbott on the 1901 Census, Charles Acton on the 1911
Census.

1901 Census - 96 London Road, Northwich, Cheshire.    Son (Nephew actually
- listed as Charles Abbott) - aged: 6 - born: Mobberley.   Head of
household - Henry Abbott - Married - aged: 40 - occ: Drainer (Navvy) -
born: Knutsford, Cheshire.   Also - Hannah Abbott (nee Jones) - Wife -
aged: 43 - born: Rostherne, Cheshire.  Plus 4 cousins.

1911 Census - 96 London Road, Northwich, Cheshire.    Nephew - (listed as
Charles Acton) - aged: 16 - occ: Clerk - born: Mobberley.   Head of
household - Henry Abbott - Married - aged: 50 - occ: Builder's Labourer -
born: Knutsford, Cheshire.   Also - Hannah Abbott - Wife - aged: 50 - born:
Mobberley.  Plus Rhoda Abbott - Grandchild - aged: 9 - born: Manchester.

Employed as an Accountant's Clerk at Northwich.     Lived with his Aunt &
Uncle (Henry & Hannah Abbott (nee Jones) at Northwich, who managed to visit
him in hospital before he died.

He must have enlisted as Charles Abbott as both the the CWGC and SDGW both
list him as Charles Abbott - not Charles Acton.

Shot through the cheek and neck and died 8 days after being wounded.  
Death reported in the 04/08/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.

CWGC - Son of Henry & Hannah Abbott of 96 London Road, Northwich.   M.I.
"Gone but not forgotten".

His brother was serving in the Grenadier Guards

of Honour.  Listed as Charles Acton on both of these local memorials.
