eldest son of Thomas & Margaret MacDonald (nee Malley).

to Ovillers Post 06/10; Work parties dug 'Bainbridge' Trench and relieved
10th Cheshire's in reserve line 15/10; To 'Hessian' and 'Zollern' Trenches
16/10; Reserve line 17/10; 'Hessian Trench 19/10 - attack cancelled and
withdrew to reserve line - 'A' Company attached to 8th Border Rgt for
attack on 'Regina' Trench 21/10 - objective taken, plus 400 yards beyond.
Relieved and to Albert 22/10.

Killed in a charge.   In the dark, his comrade made three attempts to
recover his body.

Death reported in the 19/01/1917 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
