the youngest son of Thomas & Harriet Royle (nee Brownhill, later Alton).  
Brother of Joseph Royle (father of Leonard Royle who was also killed during
WW1).  Joseph became the Chief Fire Officer for the Town of Sale & Ashton
upon Mersey and was the Chief during WW2 when the Town was firre bombed.
