Born at Ulverstone on the 30th December 1881, the birth being registered
during the June quarter 1882 in the Ulverston R.D. - ref: 8e/783, the
eldest son of George & Agnes Crossley (nee Carr).

1891 Census - East Union Street, Old Trafford.    Son - aged: 9 - born:
Ulverston, Lancashire.   Head of household - George Crossley - Married -
aged: 31 - occ: Detective Sergeant of Police - born: Bury, Lancashire.  
Also Agnes Crossley - Wife - aged: 31 - born: Ulverston.   Plus 2 younger
siblings.

Married Florence Griffiths at St. James' P.C., Moss Side, Manchester on the
30th October 1911, the marriage being registered during the December
quarter 1911 in the Chorlton R.D. - ref: 8c/1393.  Ernest was recorded as
being 29 years of age and employed as a Municipal Clerk.  Florence was born
on the 5th August 1889 and her father - Charles Griffiths, was a Medical
Doctor.  Ernest and Florence produced four children - Harry b.1911 - Elsie
b.1912 - George b.1914 and May b.1915.  They resided at 25 Meadows Road,
Sale.

Death reported in the 08/05/1918 edition of the Manchester Evening News
which includes a portrait photograph of him.

SDGW states that he was born in Ulverston - CWGC states that he was a
native of Old Trafford.   Formerly 42828 Royal Welsh Fusiliers.

M.I. - "Loved by all who knew him".

Post War, his parents were residing at 10 Lune Grove, Central Road,
Blackpool.   Florence married Albert H. Canterbury and by 1939 they were
residing with three of the Crossley children at 160 Stakes Hill Road,
Havant & Waterlooville, Hampshire.
