He enlisted in the Manchester Regiment in November 1914 and reached the
rank of Lance Corporal.  His regiment landed in France on the 10th November
1915.  Harrywas commissioned on the 25th September 1917 and transferred to
the 17th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers.

The 05/04/1918 edition of the local newspaper reports that he had been
wounded on the 28th March 1918 and died in hospital abroad.

The 16/04/1918 edition of the local newpaper reported his death.
