Born on the 13th May 1887, the son of Oliver William & Martha Smith.

Attended Dublin University.   Associated with the Royal College of Science,
Dublin.   Employed in the Electrical Dept of the Westinghouse Works,
Trafford Park.  Keen on football, lawn tennis and cricket - he also played
rugby for Sale RUFC.

WO339/21914 - On the 4th October 1914, he applied for a Commission.  His
permanent address was Jigginstown, Naas, Co. Kildare, Ireland.  His present
address was Corrisholme, Broad Road, Sale.  He had werved for three years
at the School Corps at Athlone Military Barracks.   Morris Tube practice in
Dublin University.   He was Mentioned in despatches.  Died at Albert,
Somme.   Letters of Administration were granted to his father on the 27th
July 1916 by the Principal Registry Office (Ireland).   His Estate was
valued at £129. 14s. 11d.  

Company Commander since February 1915.

Death reported in the 16/05/1916 edition of the Altrincham Guardian.
