Born during the December quarter 1891 in the Edmonton R.D. - ref:3a/412, the son of John Charles & Jane Eliza Coulter (nee Bumstead). 1901 Census - 18 Church Street, Islington, London. Son - aged: 10 - born: Clerkenwell, London. Head of household - John Coulter - Married - aged: 38 - occ: Carpenter - born: Strood, Kent. Also Jane Coulter - Wife - aged: 33 - born: Ivychurch, Kent. Plus 4 siblings. 1911 Census - 1st Battalion, King's Own Rifle Corps, Aldershot. Driver - aged: 20 - born: Islington, London. His parents and family were then residing at 18 Hadfield Street, Stretford. His father - John Charles Coulter, a 48 year old Carpenter. His mother Jane Eliza Coulter - aged: 43, plus 4 sisters. Married Dora Penkethman during the December quarter 1915 in the Barton upon Irwell R.D. - ref: 8c/1247. Dora was born at Wrexham in 1895, the daughter of Boot & Shoemaker - Henry & Harriett Penkethman. There were three brothers - JAMES (b.1886 Mcr) - WLLIAM (b.1890 Hyde) - BEN (b.1893 Wrexham). Formerly T/28085 R.A.S.C. Local newspaper states that he was a private. Death reported in the 10/05/1918 edition of the Altrincham Guardian. Left a widow and one child (Sidney E. Coulter (b.1917) who was notified of his death 3 days after the death of her brother - Gunner Penkethman of Sale (who I have been unable to trace). M.I. - "Too dearly loved to be forgotten by all at home". Commemorated on the private family gravestone in Stretford Cemetery. CWGC - Son of J. C.
