Air Gunner. Flying with 57 Sqn, they took off at 1619hrs from R.A.F. East Kirkby, Lincolnshire, in a Lancaster Mk.III, No. JB529 DX-P on a bombing operation over Berlin. They are believed to have crashed near Trebbin. The entire crew of 8 died and are buried in the Berlin 1939-1945 Cem. Flying Officer Wakefield from Sale, also died on this mission.  | |||
