Born during the March quarter 1920 in the Salford R.D. - ref: 8d/183, the son of Lennox & Lizzie Durham (nee Smith). Married Isobel Jones during the December quarter 1943 in the Rugby R.D. - ref: 6d/1623. Flying with 50 Sqn in a Lancaster Mk III, No. ND876 VN-Z, they took off from RAF Skellingthorpe at 20.55 hrs for a bombing mission to München. Over the target, at 01.54 hrs, they were hit by flak. the a/c breaking into two sections and fallin crashing at München-Laim. The entire crew of 7 were killed. They were originally buried at MünchenWestenfriedhof, but on the 15th November 1947 their remains were taken to Dünbach Cemetery and reinterred there. After the war, Isobel's address was - Shepparton East, Victoria, Australia.  | |||
