Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a College Apprentice in October 1933
and on completion of his apprenticeship in February 1936 he joined the
staff of the General Engineering Department.  Joined the RNVR as a
Sub-Lieutenant in October 1939 and served in H.M.S.Valiant, H.M.S.
Skirmisher and H.M.S. Fiji.  Promoted to the rank of Electrical Lieutenant
in 1940.   KinA at sea in May 1941.
