Born during the September quarter 1923 in the Stoke on Trent R.D. - ref: 6b/342, the son of Joseph Edgar & Annie Davis (nee Brindley). Joined the Metro-Vicker's Company as a Probationary Trade Apprentice in August 1938 and became a Trade Apprentice in May 1940. Joined the Air Raid Precautions Service in 1940. Killed during an air raid whilst on duty in December 1940. 1939 National Registration - 6 Willan Road, Eccles - Married - born: 24th February 1898 - occ: Storekeeper at Steel Works (Heavy Worker). Annie Davis - Married - born: 17th March 1897 - occ: Unpaid Domestic Duties. Clive E. Davis - Single - born: 29th August 1923 - occ: Apprentice Instrument Maker. M.I. "To have, to love and then to part, is the greatest sorrow of my heart". His father Joseph, died 02/02/1943 aged 48 years and his mother Annie, died 25/01/1971 aged 74 years - she was cremated at Markeaton, Derbyshire. CWGC - F.A.P. member; of 6 Willan Road. Son of J. E. and A. Davis. Died at 94 Gilda Brook Road. 94 Gilda Road, Eccles was a First Aid Post and a total of sixteen people were killed in this incident. Eleven at No.94 and five members of the Thompson family next door at No.96. 1 Air Raid Warden, 1 ARP Ambulance Driver, 7 civilians and 7 First Aid personnel.  | |||
